Aruba's Hands By Gaby Sea Glass Excursion 2022 version

For the 2nd year I went with friends on Gaby's sea glass excursion. The price was up from last year, but so is everything else. For $70 (cash only for the excursion), her husband picked us up, took us to hunt for glass, and helped us a bit with the hunt. That was about 40-45 minutes or so, but it was a no-breeze day (even on the coast!) and I was getting hot, so that was fine by me.

Then Dave drove us to Gaby's studio. One at a time, she went through our glass and pointed out interesting things (I thought they were interesting). She'll remove anything that is not glass (like shells, coral) along with virgin glass (glass that needs to churn in the ocean a bit longer) and then helps us choose our art piece (jewelry piece) that is included with the $70. If we want more, we can buy more. She'll have the pieces ready within a few days and we picked ours up when she had her table at the Tamarijn vendor's night since it was right across the street.

Her vendor table is the Murano glass she works with. I also bought a piece of that. Dave can only take 4 people at a tie and he can only do a couple days per week, so these fill up quickly!

This is all of the glass I found this year.

...but when the light is on them... amber green and red The red one is so thick I can only get that little piece of red to show.

The piece on the left is thick and heavy. They said it is old and has probably been churning for a long time, possibly 100 years. The piece on the right they said is most likely from a perfume bottle and is also old, and it was cool to find it with the top portion intact.

This one still has writing but I haven't been able to identify the bottle yet

It really sounds like a fun tour. Given that they have knowledge of where to find the seaglass, it seems that 40 -45 minutes would be adequate.

    Aruba's hands on FB
    or
Contact Tranquilo's Capt Anthony about his company that does tours to the sea glass island

    FWIW
the Aruba gvmnt is now thinking about not allowing sea glass to be taken from Aruba.
they are considering treating it like shells. Meaning.....leave and do not remove.

One thing I think that they are forgetting is that sea glass is TRASH.

I hear that there are some people say people going out the the island is a reef and the seaglass should be part of the reef.

    Thanks Andrea for the info.

yes that is what is being said. saying that the glass should be left alone.
some people just need something to complain about.
the glass is trash. SMH at stupidity. maybe they should spend their precious time removing classic books from school reading lists

imo, I could not be bothered to take the excursion (lazy and do not want to miss beach time) I get my glass at ebay or amazon.
cheap and from the comfort of my chair
