    Credit Card Notifications

There had been some debate on other forums about whether one has to notify credit card and bank atm cards of foreign travel.

I have notified my credit card companies of my travel (as I always do). All of them had a spot on their website for travel notification. (In my case, on all 4 cards it was in the "My Profile" category)

In my planning, for my credit and atm cards, notification of international travel was indeed necessary.

Absolutely...… I would never take a chance of 'Sir, your card has been declined'...….!

I do notify my credit cards (the ones I will be using) online or phone call with the exception of Amex. I used to call/notify them of every International trip I was making until they repeatedly told me I no longer need to notify them. After about the 3rd or 4th time of them telling me this, I no longer notify Amex.

Our CC says that we don't have to but i always do. We get a notification for every CC transaction made while we're out of the country, purchases on line or away from our billing address zip code and standard procedure.

Probably depends on the type of Amex - many different kinds and all with different benefits, etc. We use the Amex Skymiles Reserve and Amex Skymiles Plat. Those cards are "tied" to all of our Delta reservations so they know where we are...LOL!

Hubby notifies the cc companies. Some say thank-you and some say we don't have to tell them.

And while you're at it, make copies of all of the cards front and back and keep them separate from the credit cards when you travel. Passport too, in case something gets lost.
