    To our beloved visitors:
On May 8th, the Government of Aruba announced a tentative re-opening of the borders for inbound travel. As of now this is scheduled to be between June 15 and July 1, 2020. The aforementioned re-opening target date is subject to change as we may consider additional precautionary measures as needed.
As you can imagine, this decision does not come without serious consideration as our highest priority is the health and well-being of our people and visitors.
For travelers who already have a trip booked and are concerned restrictions may impact your travel dates, please contact your hotels and airlines directly for an update on their rescheduling policies. We will welcome guests back to our sunny shores as soon as it is safe to do so.
While we know it does not quite compare to the real Aruba, we have created a special happiness video to give those at home a taste of our One Happy Island until we can be together again.

The Minister of Tourism did reiterate that this is tentative and subject to change

Since 1980, and throughout the many changes, we still love going downtown in Oranjestad.

I echo Walt's sentiments; we are watching this very closely.

So far, things are looking positive for Aruba to be opened for us in October.

The caution is, and always must be, that things can change at any time and with little warning.

….and we're June 30, although I remain quite doubtful it will happen. Can't imagine Aruba will take any chances with anyone from the Northeast....!

ARUBA STARTS PREPARING THE RE-OPENING OF THE BORDERS

During the press conference of Friday May 8,2020, Aruba Minister of Tourism Dangui Oduber announced that Aruba is slowly preparing to re-open our borders with a TENTATIVE date for July 1, 2020, possibly with a soft opening a week or two prior to that date.
As was announced a week earlier, the internal economy will be gradually re-open and by June 15, the internal economy should be completely open in the “new normal”. So the next logical step is to start preparing to re-open the external economy as well.
The July 1st date is TENTATIVE and depends on the local situation being fully under control as well as many other factors and protocols that would need to be in place.
More information will be given in the following days and weeks. It is important that the sector starts preparing now.

Aruba, before the corona-crisis, received up to 20,000 visitors per week. Now we are looking initially at having about 2,000 people per week, 10%, simply because there will be less people looking to travel during this crisis.
Not all airlines will be flying in. As of now Jetblue, American Airlines, Spirit, Copa and Avianca are on board.
Many protocols are being drafted for (and by) hotel, restaurants, establishment, the airport, taxis, car rental places, airlines and these need to be in place before opening the borders.
Each will have to have different protocols in place with social distancing and cleanliness as the government of Aruba’s main goal is to keep everyone on the island and their tourists safe, and to provide good quality health care, if and when needed.

We have not set definitive dates yet, but are preparing ourselves with tentative plans for mid June to end of July. We will only take the definitive decision, when we have all sectors on board.
I know that there are a lot of unanswered questions at this moment, and we will address them in the coming days. But this announcement creates the much needed perspective as well, as thousands are currently without a job.
This too shall pass and we will rise as a much stronger and resilient country.
Please stay safe and healthy everyone.
