Yes, like Steve said, it is Iberostar. It is supposed to be a 5 star all inclusive with a 5 year build. They cleared the land prior to Covid, but started construction mid to late 2021. We are guessing it will be longer than 5 years. They may have started the steel work on this side, but on the other side of the lot, they don't have the foundation done yet. I just posted another picture I took today.

Here is Rona's take on the sale to Iberostar.
The article gives a brief overall history.

It sounds like Iberostar is the right choice to get the property managed the way it should be. It’s just that there are so many resorts in the works adding many many rooms to an infrastructure that just can’t handle it.

Iberostar is listed on the IHG website as a partner property. Iberostar Beachfront Resorts | IHG® Hotels & Resorts

Can you tell I'm trying to book a trip??

Iberostar did surely trying to make its mark on this island as I watch the smaller of the cranes move a piece of steal. I see it as an over capacity sewage plant, a crowded airport that cannot on some days get the people through efficiently, bigger and bigger cruise ships coming and lots of crowding. That surely does not sound like the type of place that wants people with high incomes(referencing an post awhile back), but a place that wants every tourist $$$ it can get. It'll end up over built, over promised and underperformed. There will be so many rooms and add in all the AirBNBs, that they will have to discount them.
Spot on, Robin. I couldn’t agree more.

Very well stated Robin! I would add....a power grid that can not handle the load either. In 2022 we had more power outages than any year in the 14 years we have owned here.
