    Turtle nesting season

The turtle nesting season starts in March and goes until September. Hatching runs from May to November. I think it would be almost as much fun to see a turtle come up to the beach to nest as it would be to see the little ones come up from the sand.

With the island being so quiet right now I wonder if there will be more activity with the turtles? We’ve seen turtles a few times when out on a boat but I would love to see one come up to nest or to actually witness a hatching.

I know a few of our members on the forum have witnessed this in the past. Hope someone gets to see it on their upcoming trip.

I do remember that! They were the first ones to notice what was happening. Last night I was watching one of those sappy romantic movies and they were witnessing a hatching. It really does look magical. We have seen the barricades they put up at Manchebo and Bucuti but have never been fortunate enough to see it.

I just missed one the last time we were in Aruba. We had met a nice couple and hung out with them for the night. In the morning they came over to us at breakfast and said you just missed a turtle coming up to lay her eggs. I was sooo disappointed. We saw one later that week while we were on Jolly Pirates swimming along the side of the boat while we were under sail. We're hoping to be able to go to Aruba in late May, fingers crossed, so maybe we see a hatching.

Does anyone know the number of turtle nests for 2020? The signs are not up anymore.
