Since 1980, and throughout the many changes, we still love going downtown in Oranjestad.

    Good morning,

Our ideal day in Aruba is both ideal, and pretty typical of what we do every day except travel days.

Start the day around 6:00 am, make coffee, pour the orange juice and step outside onto our porch at Sunset Beach Studios. No, I didn't forget the cereal. We usually have an ocean front suite, so we watch Aruba starting to wake up for the next hour or so. The "Aruba Today" paper usually arrives around 7:30.

Around 8:00 or so, I head to the pool area at SBS while Donna prefers to sit on the porch sofa and read or just watch the pelicans diving for their breakfast.

Eventually we get in the car and head to Oranjestad. I drop her off opposite Little Switzerland (where else?) then park the car. Finally I make my way to LS, get comfortable on my pink stone bench.

Once we are back in the car it's time to decide on lunch and after that we head to Super Foods. Just going through the store is fun; seeing all the Dutch products, etc.

Mid-afternoon is nap time. Then dinner. We are early diners.

Okay, it's about 7:30 and after a stroll around the Alhambra area, it's time to head back to SBS.

    Good night. See you tomorrow.

Up around 6, leave Gina sleeping, grab a coffee and head to anyone of the beaches for surf fishing until around 9 30 or so. Drive back to where we are staying to pick up Gina & go to Dutch Pancake House for a good solid breakfast. Spend some time at the beach or a pool until lunch time. Probably have lunch inside where we are staying. Gina will relax on the balcony or at the pool. Take a drive to "nowhere and everywhere" for a few hours. We never get tired of doing this on Aruba. Take a walk around 4 30 thru 5 30 somewhere between the fisherman's huts and Arashi and then have diner at one of our favorite places.

For us, the ideal day is spending the day at the beach, then heading to The Beach Bar for happy hour, then heading out for a nice dinner.

I've been thinking about this and I have to give 2 options.

    Palm Beach:
Up at sunrise to reserve a palapa and enjoy the quiet of the beach waking up. Jon will come down after an hour or so. Breakfast in the room, little brazillian beef steak medallions with eggs and mimosas. then back to the beach for round 2 of mimosas. Morning on the beach, in and out of the water, maybe a short hot tub visit. Lunch would be tuna poke bowls from Eduardos. Afternoon back on the beach, maybe a stop by the pool. Around 4pm a stop by happy hour at Pelican's nest for drinks and appetizers. Next up to the room to clean up and watch the sunset from our balcony. Walk over to the Hyatt casino for some slots and roulette then back to the balcony for drinks and music or maybe to hear a band at Bugaloe or Moomba if one is playing.

    Low Rise area:
Sleep in and lounge around at Costa Linda. Have a small bite for breakfast, maybe pastechi from the mini mart across the parking lot, and then out to the beach to get some shade and lounge around most of the day. Lunch would be at Manchebo Pega Pega bar with fish tacos or chicken sate and of course Manchito frozen mojitos. Back to the beach in and out of the water for the afternoon and enjoy happy hour. Stay on the beach until sunset, then up to the room for showers. Dinner would be Elements on the deck, then on to Alhambra for slots and roulette. Back to the room for an early night and do it all again the next day.
The best trip is the next trip. Anxiously waiting to book something.

Thanks for the info about the hotel. I'm sure we pass each other. I always wear a blue bathing suit and my hair is blond.

At this point I would just be happy to be in Aruba- missed going last May and we are not going this May. Covid is keeping us at home until we at least are vaccinated and numbers are down. I am working on talking my husband in to going in November(fingers crossed).

These are great to read through!
Our ideal day is basically rinse and repeat every day in Aruba. I’m up around 6, go out and put a few towels on chairs on the beach. I typically run around 3-4 miles, wherever the day takes me. Get back and relax on the beach chair for a little while before going to Dushi Bagels for a few….bagels! Head up to the room for bagel and coffee then head back down to the beach around 8 with wife and son. Alternate between floating and relaxing in chairs until noon. The food part of this is so hard! Probably would go with a grouper sandwich at Pelican Nest then head back for more floating. Mid-afternoon snack would have to involve an acai bowl at Eduardo’s. Around 4 we head up to the room, relax and eventually clean-up for dinner. I clean-up first and head over to Fireson Brewing for a beer while wife and son clean-up. Meet them and head over to….this is too hard to choose…. Salt and Pepper (maybe) or Chicken and Lobster, maybe fast casual at Garden Fresh, or could the burger at Dushi do it tonight? Too many choices for dinner – ideally we’d head out and wonder into one of these places depending on how the wind was blowing that evening!

    Love this reading
Generally we get up around 730 to a nice hot cup of coffee that was set the night before , we sit out on our balcony at Costa Linda looking over the pool and ocean . Im usually thinking about how long I wish I can stay here without returning to CT.. Next around 10 we take a walk on the new walkway from resort till my wife says lets turn around which is usually around Passions on the beach area. We get back quick freshen up and we set up in the corner nearest the towel hut at the pool. Wife reads I go in the pool then we proceed to go back and forth between beach and pool for next few hrs. Wife goes up makes a pitcher of usually cosmo brings it down to the pool have a little lunch. repeat till sunset. Go up get ready for dinner head out usually around 730 to something real good always . Get back to resort walk over to fusion sit outside and listen to music and have more cocktails . Walk back by way of the beach ,stopping and enjoying the beauty of a clear dark sky for star gazing. Start all over at 730 am ... Heaven
