Taxis in Aruba: Reliable and Quick

Are you concerned about taking a taxi from the airport to your hotel, especially if it's your first time? If so, there's no need to worry.

Taxis in Aruba are reliable and easy to use, but are cash only. Bring small bills in US dollars or Aruban florins, since drivers usually can’t break large ones. Tips are appreciated and best given in cash, around 10 to 15 percent or just by rounding up. All taxis are government-regulated with fixed rates based on zones, but there are extra charges for rides at night, on holidays, or with excess luggage. Only use official taxis marked with “TX” license plates and a visible driver ID. Drivers often won’t pick up wet passengers straight from the beach, so dry off first. During high season, especially at night, wait times can hit 30 to 60 minutes. Hotels and restaurants can call a taxi for you, which usually speeds things up.

A taxi is a highly secure and efficient way to reach your accommodation or other destination swiftly. It's important to note that all taxis operating at the airport are officially registered and authorized to queue for passengers, having fulfilled certain requirements and paid an annual fee for this privilege. Some individuals opt for private pre-arranged transportation, which is of course great for convenience, if your budget allows for it... But when it comes to choosing between taxis and private transportation, safety shouldn't be your concern.

With taxis available right outside the arrivals hall exit, a brief stroll leads you to a sizable taxi queue, offering a variety of vehicles to cater to diverse transportation needs.

The rates for taxi services from the aiport are as follows: $21.00 for transportation to the Oranjestad, $26.00 for the low-rise hotels, and $31.00 for Palm Beach Hotels. An interesting aspect is that four or five individuals can travel together for the price of one, making it a cost-effective option. Please note that there is a surcharge of $3.00 added to the regular fare on Sundays, official holidays, and from 11:00 pm to 07:00 am. A full list of taxi fares can be found here.

Taxis offer speed, reliability, and safety. They're essentially private transport, reserved only for you and your companions when you step inside.
