Dia di Brazil Parade

Dia di Brazil is celebrated on the first weekend of September, but the cultural festivities begin as early as July, creating a season-long celebration of Aruba’s living heritage. This event takes place in the district of Brazil in San Nicolas. 

Music is at the heart of the festivities. Throughout the season, guests can experience activities such as the Acoustic Parade, a unique procession where music takes place without electric instruments, and the Festival di Cantica di Caya, bringing traditional songs into the streets and keeping them part of the celebration year after year.

This year also marks a new chapter for Un Canto na Bernadina, which is being presented under new stewardship after previously being organized by Fundación Bernadina. The event brings existing songs to life through a concert-style performance, celebrating the music and voices that have become part of Brazil's cultural identity.

Folklore takes center stage too, with a Folklore Queen competition featuring participants across different age groups. Through traditional costumes, music and dance, the younger generations become part of a tradition that continues to evolve while staying connected to its roots.

Then comes the highlight of the season: the Dia di Brazil Folkloric Parade on the first weekend of September. Happening this year on the 4th and 6th of September. This year, 14 groups will take to the streets of Brazil, dressed in traditional folkloric costumes and dancing to Aruba’s rhythms. As the music fills the neighborhood and the streets become a stage, it is a celebration that invites everyone to experience the warmth, creativity and cultural pride of this community.

Dia di Brazil is more than a single weekend. It is a celebration that unfolds over months, offering a meaningful way to experience Aruba's culture through its music, traditions and the people who keep them alive.

The mission of this movement is to complement and enhance the folklore and culture of Aruba. “Celebracion Dia di Brazil” consists of folklore and cultural activities that are developed and executed by volunteers. In this way FCH would like to educate, inspire, entertain and empower the community and on-island visitors.
