Spend an afternoon by the sea at the Savaneta Seafood Festival, a celebration of local fishing traditions, seafood, culture, and community.
Held in Savaneta, one of Aruba’s oldest fishing communities and the island’s first capital, the festival brings the neighborhood to life with local seafood vendors, restaurants, arts and crafts, music, and more.
Admission is free, with the streets near the festival area closed to create a welcoming space for guests to enjoy the festivities. More than 37 vendors will serve a variety of seafood dishes, including cocolishi, shrimp, conch, lobster, ceviche, crab, keri keri, fish soup, and more. Local and craft beer, frozen drinks, and wine will also be available.
One of the festival's highlights is the local fishing tournament, which begins early in the morning. Local and visiting fishermen compete in traditional small Aruban boats and yachts before returning to Savaneta’s pier with their catches of the day. Guests can gather along the pier to welcome the fishermen and see the catch come ashore.
At 3:00 PM, the catch is prepared on the grill as part of Di Lama pa Tayo, bringing the day's fishing tradition straight from the sea to the plate.
The festival also highlights Savaneta's creative and cultural traditions. Local artists and bands will perform throughout the day, while arts and crafts vendors showcase sea-inspired artwork. A dedicated face-painting area will offer ocean-themed designs for younger guests.
The Savaneta Seafood Festival offers a chance to experience Aruba through one of its most enduring traditions, fishing, while connecting with the community that continues to keep this part of the island's heritage alive. The organizers hope the festival will bring greater recognition to Savaneta's history and fishing culture.
