Drinking Water in Aruba

Tap water in Aruba is safe to drink and is produced through a high-quality desalination process that transforms seawater into clean drinking water!

Can you drink tap water in Aruba?

Yes. Tap water in Aruba is safe to drink and is known for its high quality and clean taste. Many people even consider it among the best-tasting tap water in the Caribbean. And even better: it meets the highest quality standard set by the World Health Organization.

Aruba is known for its pristine beaches and turquoise waters, but not many realize that the tap water found all over our island is both potable and delicious. It’s so good, we call it Paradise on Tap.

No freshwater can be found on the island, yet our seawater is carefully desalinated and turned into drinking water of the highest quality.

No need to buy bottled water. In Aruba, you can drink water straight from the tap, all across the island. Say goodbye to carrying heavy bottles from the supermarket. The water in Aruba is safe to drink, so your water supply is right there in your hotel room.

Because Aruba has no natural rivers or freshwater sources, the island produces its drinking water through a high-quality seawater desalination process. At the desalination facility operated by W.E.B. Aruba N.V. (Water- en Energiebedrijf, Aruba’s Water and Energy Company), seawater is distilled and purified using advanced technology.

During this process, salt and impurities are removed from seawater. The water then goes through additional purification and remineralization, where essential minerals are carefully added back to balance the water and enhance its taste.

This advanced system produces fresh, safe drinking water that meets strict international quality standards and flows directly from the tap across the island.

Guests visiting Aruba can confidently drink tap water at hotels, restaurants, and homes. Refilling a reusable bottle is also an easy way to stay hydrated while reducing single-use plastic during your stay.
