Aruba may not come to mind as the island with the best surfing in the Caribbean, but seasoned surfers appreciate the challenge of surfing in Aruba with our fast-breaking waves. Several surf breaks, most of them located along the north coast of the island, provide an ample supply of rideable waves, typically of decent size but choppy due to Aruba's strong trade winds.

These waves are best navigated on a short board. Long boarders can often catch smaller waves with a longer, smoother ride at another of the top Aruba surf spots, just offshore from Arashi Beach. Aruba has some of the most interesting Caribbean surfing spots.

The local Aruba surfing community is especially friendly and gracious towards guest surfers at the breaks. Several surf contests are held throughout the year, with the winners representing Aruba at international competitions.
